    What is Spray Foam Insulation?

Spray foam insulation is a modern, high-performance material that expands on application to create an airtight seal. It stops heat escaping in winter, keeps your home cooler in summer, and helps reduce noise transfer.

Unlike traditional insulation, spray foam adapts to any surface – filling every gap, joint, and hard-to-reach space. This means fewer draughts, better temperature control, and lower energy bills.

    Benefits of Spray Foam Insulation

    Superior Energy Savings

Reduce heat loss by up to 50% compared to traditional insulation.

    Airtight Seal

    No gaps or cold spots.

    Moisture Resistance

Helps prevent condensation when installed correctly.

    Soundproofing

Quieter rooms and reduced outside noise.

    Longevity

Keeps its shape and performance for decades.

We recently had our attic insulated by Yann and his team at LoveInsulation, and we couldn’t be happier with the result. Ours is a dormer bungalow with an extension, which meant there were tricky areas to reach and no single solution that would suit the entire space. Yann took the time to really think through the best approach, working with us to design a tailored plan using a combination of spray foam and pumped cellulose.

Before choosing LoveInsulation, we had assessments and quotes from at least four other companies. Not only were Yann and his team the most competitive, but they were also the only ones who went beyond a “one-size-fits-all” solution. Their attention to detail and genuine consideration of the house’s design really stood out.

The installation itself was carried out quickly, efficiently, and with great care. The team put down carpet covers, worked cleanly, and showed real respect for our home. Now, four weeks on, the difference is remarkable—we can already feel the benefits and are looking forward to a much more comfortable winter.

I would highly recommend Yann and the team at LoveInsulation to anyone considering insulation. Professional, thoughtful, and excellent value for money.

When I first contacted Loveinsulation, I wanted foam loft insulation but Yann talked me through the options and we decided on cellulose as better and less costly. Exceptionally helpful! Yann also gave a very competitive quote. The work was completely quickly and cleanly. He was very helpful with the SEAI process as well. I would 100% recommend Loveinsulation.

Open-Cell and Closed-Cell Spray Foam Insulation

There are two main types of spray foam insulation. At Lovinsulation, we’ll recommend the right type for your property, based on your home’s structure, ventilation, and energy goals.

    Open-Cell Spray Foam Insulation

Softer, flexible, excellent for soundproofing and breathable applications.

Open cell spray insulation foam has many applications and is ideal for insulating any home. Also known as low-density insulation foam, this unique application provides an air-sealing barrier to leave your home as energy efficient as possible.

The primary uses for open cell foam insulation spray are:

    • Attic insulation
    • Ceiling insulation
    • Floor insulation
    • Crawl space insulation

    Closed-Cell Spray Foam Insulation

Denser, highly water-resistant, ideal for maximum thermal performance.

Closed cell spray foam insulation is ideal for environments where a moisture or air barrier is required. This solution can also be used for structural support as well as exterior applications due to its dense nature.

Closed cell spray foam insulation is ideal for use in the following applications:

    • Industrial units
    • Containers
    • Agricultural roofing or flat roofs
    • Refrigeration units & more

    Ventilation Cards

It is important to note that when foam is sprayed under a roof in a house, a ventilation card is required to comply with building regulations.

A ventilation card creates a mandatory 50mm air gap to allow for air flow and to prevent the accumulation of condensation. This prevents any future issues with damp affecting the roof of the house.

For more, click to see – “What is a ventilation card?”

Is spray foam insulation safe? Does it cause issues with damp and mould?

You may have heard concerns about spray foam and damp, mould, or ventilation problems. These issues only happen with poor installation or the wrong product choice.

Lovinsulation’s installation process meets all Irish building regulations and ensures proper ventilation is always maintained.
